Jonmichael Moy (Jon Michael Moy) is a Toronto technology executive passionate about using his significant experience in growing e-commerce businesses and marketplaces and introducing new digital products to market. A seasoned veteran of Silicon Valley who has more than seventeen years of experience in management and operations, product and business development and marketing, Jonmichael Moy has held senior-level roles in industry-leading digital businesses such as eBay, PayPal, Torstar Corporation, and most recently, AskforTask.
Jonmichael earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial management and economics from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After earning his degree, he began his career by working with CapGemini where he served as a senior consultant. Following his work at CapGemini, Jonmichael’s passion for operations and product development led him to serve as a Product Manager at Jamcracker, where he guided an 8-person cross functional team in two major platform launches, resulting in increasing business user engagement by over 110% and incremental revenue by 20%. Prior to Jamcracker, he also enjoyed launching a web application portal for which he secured $200,000 in seed funding.
In 2007, Jonmichael was hired by eBay. During his six years at eBay and its PayPal subsidiary, he guided a range of strategic initiatives and moved from Product Manager in 2007 to Head of Product by 2009. As Head of Product at PayPal Canada, Jonmichael helped grow a $2B-plus consumer and merchant payment product portfolio. He also helped lead the launch of PayPal Canada (www.paypal.ca) and PayPal Payments Pro, with PayPal Payments Pro becoming Canada’s fastest growing merchant services payment product, achieving triple digit revenue growth in its first three years. Additionally, Jonmichael led a 30+ person cross-functional team in launching eBay's first marketplace shopping cart, an initiative that resulted in the doubling of average order size and allowing more than 30 large retailers to onboard onto the platform.
Following his work at eBay and PayPal, Jonmichael was brought on by Torstar Corporation as its Managing Director. At Torstar, he was invaluable in guiding the company’s turnaround of its automotive digital portfolio, a portfolio that included Wheels.ca, Autocatch.com, Lead Driver, and LeaseBusters.com.
His work at Torstar drove double digit growth within two years. Jonmichael also secured the co-title sponsorship of the TADA Canadian International Autoshow with the Toronto Star and led in the relaunch of the flagship Wheels.ca website that lifted revenues by 12 percent on a 60 percent improvement in user engagement. While at Torstar, Jonmichael managed a 30-person business unit consisting of seven direct reports and also negotiated content marketing, user content generation, and revenue sharing agreements and partnerships with local and national content providers.
Today, Jonmichael helps drive sustainable growth at AskforTask, Canada’s largest and fastest growing on-demand home services platform. As AskforTask’s Vice President of Operations, he brings his expertise in product strategy, business partnerships, and operations management to help drive the company’s growth trajectory.
Outside of his career, Jonmichael Moy loves to play hockey and organizes hockey teams across the province of Ontario. He also enjoys hot yoga and actively supports local entrepreneurs around the world through micro financing, as well as supports the UNICEF organization.
